If you are looking for something different next year and fancy yourself as a carp fishing pioneer and want the adventure of a lifetime then why not look into the second annual Austin Team Championship being held over the last weekend in March 2003. Based at the prolific ‘Town Lake’ in Austin, Texas, this competition promises to be the highlight of any carp anglers year.

Following last year’s successful event I have secured 4 team spaces for this international event, each to compose of 2 anglers. The competition itself will run over 2 consecutive days and I have put together a comprehensive week long package which includes entry to the competition itself, accommodation, licenses, plus fishing at both this lake and also the exciting ‘Austin Lake’ before and afterwards.

Since it’s discovery 1 years ago Town Lake has rapidly established itself as THE new carp destination to visit in the USA, producing some incredible catches to both local and travelling anglers. This year alone it has produced at least 12 different 40’s and the number of 30’s has been lost count of. The average size fish is a good upper 20 and there are loads of those! Given that only a small percentage of this water has been explored and the regularity of good catches there is no doubt that Town Lake has lots more still to come.

Particle baits during the competition will be supplied as part of the entry and all swims will be prepared and pre-baited before the competition to ensure they are primed and ready to go! Standard UK tactics work perfectly and your normal UK tackle is fine. Anyone wanting to organise boilies to fish with can talk to me and I can arrange this in advance. I can help you with most brands however I personally recommend Mainline baits.

Pictured here is part of last years winning team Richard Somerville with one of the fish he caught weighing 45lb 11oz. Along with Tommy Riley they landed 18 carp for a total weight of approximately 490lb!

A package including all your fishing licenses, entry to the competition, 1 years CAG membership, 3 nights accom (twin sharing) at a hotel on the banks of the lake and a small admin fee works out at £145. (based on current exchange rate of $1.50 / £1)

I have been looking on the net at prices for flights to Dallas and at the moment you can get return flights from the UK with British Airways, American Airlines and Continental leaving on 26th March returning on 2nd April for £240 ( tax) or less!!!!

This means for £400 you can have the weeks holiday of a lifetime and the chance to win some serious dosh (if you take part in the locally organised big fish and winning weight jackpots). You can't get a decent trip to France for this price and it's half the cost of a trip out to the St Lawrence!

If anyone wants to enter a sponsored team then I can help you publicise the trip and competition through the major UK carp fishing magazines to make it worth your while.

For more information on this competition and to reserve your team space contact Jon Greenwood on 01908 648743.

Please pass this message onto anyone you think might be interested or post it onto other lists you think it might suit.

I can supply a full set of competition rules and more example pictures of fish from this venue to anyone who wants them.

Thanks
