Floods obviously curtailed my angling activities somewhat and I've been really busy with our company trade shows over the last three weeks. We've got a week off now before the last one in London so I'm going to make the most of it and get out fishing every day if I can!

On Monday I'm going to Wassell Grove fishery which is situated a short drive from junction three of the M5. I'm looking forward to seeing the place again as I first saw it when it was being created a few years ago. There have been some good weights here recently so hopefully I'll get a few! On Tuesday I've promised myself a barbel session on the river. The Severn is carrying about five foot of extra water right now but barbel are being caught on meat baits. On Wednesday I'm off to the Gloucester canal which I understand has been fishing well for roach and skimmers. Thursday it's a day off from fishing as I'm off to the Good Food Show at the NEC. I went last year and it's a great day out with lots to see and try. There are wine producers from all over the world there so it's definitely going to be a non-driving day. My girlfriend Jo has already booked our train tickets I understand!

I mentioned last week about the fantastic response of retailers towards the new M.A.P. Matchtek pole. We've almost sold out of the initial stocks already and I understand they will be in the shops from January. The pole comes as sixteen metres with loads of spare top kits and a carp kit for elastics up to number sixteen. I've been using a prototype for several weeks and have had some fabulous catches with it. Trouble is, I've had to send the sample back to Leeda so I'm waiting for my production model too!
